Born in a village setting in Ghana in December 1952; married with 3 children, ages: 43, 39 and 37.
Education & Professionalism
Completed secondary education at Government Secondary Technical School (GSTS), Takoradi, in 1969. Obtained Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) with First Class Honours from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. Master’s Degree by Research from the same University in New Zealand. Currently a Consultant Engineer and a Fellow Member of Institution of Engineers, Australia.
Industrial Experience
Has approximately 45 years of Industrial experience- predominantly in manufacturing (i.e. Automobiles, Aluminium and other heavy industrial environments).
Career Highlights include:
- Manufacturing Engineering Manager (Foundry Area) for the General Motors Holden Plant at Melbourne, Australia in 2009. Automobile components manufacture including engines, exhaust systems, flywheels, brake discs etc.
- Specialist Engineer, Potrooms, Rio Tinto Plant, New Zealand in 1996- Aluminium smelting.
- Assets Compliance Manager, Thales Australia, Mulwala, New South Wales, Australia in 2014- The largest manufacturer of ammunitions, propellant and military explosives for the Australia Defence Force and other strategic partners.
Privately: Was involved in the development of a cutting-edge anode (Aluminium Smelter) baking technology from its conceptual stage into a pilot plant which is now in operation in Hawesville, Kentucky, USA. It is the Lazar Anode Technology developed in Australia. I was part of a 2 person’s team from Australia that went on a roadshow to market the technology in Canada and the USA.
This new technology is highly welcomed in the Aluminium environment which is constantly under pressure to reduce its energy consumption and to eliminate emissions of hazardous substances. Has background in Solar Power Plants and other renewable energy sources. Provided unsolicited advice to Ghana’s political leaders on harnessing solar energy as a means of addressing Ghana’s electricity shortfalls. Has keen interest in the conversion of garbage (domestic & commercial) into electricity and passionate about sanitation related matters.
Community Related Activities
Took a year off work in Australia and led the charge to build a single contemporary public toilet (suitable for 10 people) in my home village in Ghana in 2018. Also actively involved in bringing citizens (from my home area) in the diaspora together with the objective of uplifting the image of his village. I believe that education, formal/informal and sharing ideas on better ways of doing things etc., is a great vehicle that can bring about better opportunities to the people in Ghana.
